Smart Competitiveness for the Central Baltic region
Introduction. The report “Conclusions on increasing smart competitiveness in the Central Baltic region” is a summary of the research conducted in the project giving conclusions on the potential for inter-cluster cooperation in the region, branding the clusters in the region as well as some future scenarios. Furthermore, the report provides policy recommendations, managerial recommendations and ideas for future research topics.
Aim of the study. The strategic focus of the study is how the maritime cluster of the Central Baltic region (CBR) could increase its future competitiveness through smart business models and solutions. Analyse the current state and future of the maritime clusters in the Central Baltic region from regional and company-level perspectives, as well as in comparison to other globally strong maritime clusters. By analysing macro and micro-level business challenges and opportunities of the Central Baltic maritime clusters, and through identifying best business practices, discover smart business models and solutions that could be implemented in the region’s clusters. Involved partners include University of Turku/Pan-European Institute (PEI), Latvian Maritime Academy (LMA), Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration (RISEBA), Tallinn University of Technology (TUT), and Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU).
